Homemade Crafts

*** Kool-Aid Play Dough
2 1/2 to 3 cups flour2 cups boiling water with 1 pkg. kool-aid (any flavor)3 T corn oil1/2 cup salt1 T alum or cream of tarter
Mix ingredients and knead with flour (may take up to 1 cup). Use more if the dough draws moisture in high humidity. Keeps well, nice fragrance, very colorful and very flexible.
*** Colored Craft Noodles:

Put approx. 1 tsp. rubbing alcohol into bag. Add 10-15 drops of food coloring in desired color. Add approx. 2 handfuls of noodles. Seal bag and shake until noodles are evenly colored. Spread onto waxed paper to dry. Repeat if necessary for brighter or truer colors.
*** Finger Paint
2 Tablespoons Sugar
1/3 Cup of cornstarch
2 Cups water
1/4 Cup dishwashing soap
food coloring

Put the sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan and then slowly mix in cold water. Then cook the mixture over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly until you have a smooth gel. Let cool and then add dishwashing soap. Divide into as many containers as you would like colors and then mix in food coloring drops until you have you desired color.

*** Flubber

1 ½ c. warm water
3 tsp. Borax
2 c. white glue
food coloring
1 1/3 c. warm water

In a large container, mix 1 ½ cups warm water, 2 cups glue and add food coloring. In a small container, mix together 1 1/3 cup warm water and Borax. Slowly pour Borax mixture into the glue mixture, stirring as you pour. Mix thoroughly. Store in airtight container. Do not refrigerate.

Granola Bars Recipe

Granola Bars
2 1/2 cups crispy rice cereal
2 cups oatmeal
1/2 cup raisins (or any other dried fruit)
1/2 cup honey (or corn syrup)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Directions:
In a large bowl, stir together the rice cereal, oats, and dried fruit. Set aside. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
Combine the brown sugar and honey (or corn syrup) in a small saucepan over medium heat. Heat just until boiling, then remove from heat and stir in peanut butter and vanilla until smooth. Pour over the cereal and oat mixture, and mix well.
Press into the prepared pan using the back of a large spoon. Sprinkle chocolate chips over top, Allow to cool, then cut into squares.
Makes 18 bars.
